Electric skateboards have slid onto the scene with solid response from consumers in recent years as city dwellers look for an alternative to costly transportation. Some designs have been hit or miss, while Boosted has risen to the top as an industry standard. Huger Tech is looking to get in on this trend with a trio of new electric skateboards on Indiegogo with attractive designs and smart features. The first of three models is the Classic, which has a single motor that tops out at 15mph. Riders can expect to get up to nine-miles of range on a full charge. It’s made to feel just like your typical skateboard that is not battery powered, which means each manual push won’t be boosted by much energy from the built-in power supply. As with all of the models, it is powered by a handheld remote and has built-in LED head and taillights. Early bird pricing is set at $299 with a final MSRP of $499 when it hits online shelves.
Huger’s mid-range board, the ‘Travel’, adds a number of features like boosting the top speed up to 20mph and increasings the range to 22-miles. But the real change comes with more battery power that can handle up to 20% gradients, making it perfect for climbing streets and hills. There are also LED lights built-in to aid with GPS navigation.
