While the rest of us have been doing what we do, the makers of the world have been designing and creating innovative technology. Here are four new ideas in tech that are live on Kickstarter and Indiegogo.
Urbanx Electric Bike Wheel
Do you like your bike but think an electric bike sounds like something you’d like as well? You could buy an e-bike which costs a lot and leaves you with the problem of finding a place to keep two bikes. Or you could check out UrbanX’s Electric Bike Wheel and have the best of both worlds.
The UrbanX Electric Bike Wheel replaces the front wheel on your bike with a 15 lb. wheel that is equipped with an electric motor. There are two models to choose from. The UrbanX Eco has a 240-watt motor and can reach a top speed of 15 miles per hour while the UrbanX Booster has a 350-watt motor and will move you along a 20 m.p.h. UrbanX claims their wheels will take you 30 miles on a full charge. The wheels come in six sizes and will take either rim or disk brakes.
The wheels are controlled with a hand throttle attached to the handlebars. You can ride without power, under full power, or in a peddle-assist mode. The battery is removable, takes about 90 minutes to fully charge, and has a USB port that you can use to charge your phone. UrbanX also provides a cell phone mount for your handlebars.
The UrbanX Electric Bike Wheel is live on Kickstarter until 2:17 EDT Monday, April 24. At the time of this writing UrbanX had reached 365% of its $50K goal.
