I love to test home products, have had and tried many, and my latest run in is with simplehuman’s brand new sensor can with motion AND now, get this, voice control. Move over Alexa! I had the first generation of the sensor can years ago, and I can tell you that they have finally gotten it right. This can is handsome, practical and works beautifully.

They’ve all been trying to make smart trash cans for years, but I think they’re finally getting it right. The new sensor can from simplehuman is a pleasure to work around.
Easy Opening
It opens as you approach it and stays open while you work at the can. It opens if you say “Open Can” anywhere near it, which is helpful if your hands are really, really full.
Quiet, Smooth Motor
The old can I used to have had a really funky, noisy motor in it that get erratic pretty quickly. This new generation has solved those problems. The motor open quickly and smoothly and you can’t hear it at all.
Great Bag System
One of the classic great design features of simplehuman cans is how the bags are stored and are held when “on.” I love how they are stored on the back, with a hole through to the inside so you can easily pull them out when changing. AND now they have a nice big rim that closes down over the bag so that it is firmly held in place.
Nice touch.
