In a world where every song, photo, and memory in our lives can be held in the palm of your hand, something inside us still yearns for a more tangible past.
It was not long ago that looking for items like record players, cassettes, and Polaroid cameras was a quest leading us to Amazon or Ebay. Today there seems to be a swell of interest for music and pictures we can actually touch, and not from boomers recapturing the past, but instead from millennials.
Mashable featured a new product called Milktape, a modern twist on giving a mixtape, a customizable cassette tape with a flipout USB inside. The Impossible Photo Lab (also on Mashable) lets Iphone users print Polaroid style prints of the pictures on their phones. To see this trend in action, step into any Urban Outfitter’s and you will find portable record players, refurbished Polaroid cameras and even gaming systems from the 90’s. Artists releasing their new albums on vinyl, artist such as Justin Timberlake, Drake, and Paul McCartney could also be fueling this remarketing to a younger crowd. Will 2014 be the year this regression to analog explodes? Probably not, but we cant wait to see what retro tech will be making a comeback next.
Here at PMBC Group, a Los Angeles Technology PR Firm, we are excited to highlight the newest lifestyle trends.
