Exciting news has been shared that Sheryl Sandberg’s best selling book Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead might become a movie. Sony Pictures just purchased the rights to the powerhouse female Facebook COO’s book.
The 2013 book delves into lessons and words of wisdom from Sandberg for women in the workplace. Her book famously summarizes a Harvard social experiment in which identical resumes are handed out with only the gender changed but with dramatically different reactions. Most people found the success of the man appealing. However, the same accomplishments for the woman were perceived negatively as worrisome and probably not likeable. Sandberg’s book does a beautiful job capturing these unfortunate realities and encourages women to “lean in” to their ambitions.
This would not be Sony’s first Facebook book-turned-movie deal, the studio was behind the 2011’s The Social Network. It is unsure if the Lean In film will be a Sandberg biopic or rather inspired by the book’s message.
Here at PMBC Group, a Los Angeles based Technology PR firm, we are thrilled about the prospect of an empowering movie inspired by such an accomplished woman.
