The wait is finally over. The fifth generation iPad is here! Apple launched the iPad Air at its event in San Francisco early Tuesday. As expected, the new design is thinner and lighter than its predecessor.
Apple claims the iPad’s most current edition is the lightest full-size tablet on the planet. The earlier version of the iPad weighed at 1.4 pounds while the new iPad Air weighs just one pound.
Similar to the iPhone 5s, the iPad Mini comes in 64-bit A7 chip processor. Apple says it runs twice as fast as the iPad 4 on Wi-Fi networks and has 72 times better performance on graphics. Making FaceTime calls and recording videos has also improved thanks to two new built-in microphones.
Additionally, the iPad Air is now available in a “space gray” color accompanying the usual white and black it typically comes in. Pricing remains the same, starting at $499 for 16GB. The fifth generation iPad is set to go on sale worldwide on November 1st .
