Bathroom breaks can make or break an experience at a venue where big plays can be made in a matter of minutes. Tooshlights, the LED public restroom lighting system is decreasing these bathroom wait times by up to 50%, presenting a solution to this problem. LD+A, the magazine of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, recently featured Tooshlights, client of Los Angeles tech and app public relations firm, highlighting their innovative product.
Tooshlights’ co-founders Allen Klevens and Todd Berman came up with genius idea implementing the same system that is in place in parking garages to signal the availability of parking spaces. Their newest technology, however, incorporates a latch system making their product even more accurate with a closed latch signaling a light to show an occupied stall. Once doors are latched shut, the lights above the stalls turn from green, showing availability, to red, to distinguish its occupancy. Blue lights also denote the availability of handicapped stalls that LD+A notes follow ADA accessibility guidelines.
Klevens told LD+A about the company’s future plans for a mobile app, meant to be incorporated into venues’ apps. This will let fans know where the nearest and most available restrooms are in order time their bathroom breaks. The app also serves the venue owners who can now see when bathrooms are frequented and which are the most commonly used. This helps with the planning of concessions and retail stands to be placed in the vicinity of those bathrooms most often visited.
Tooshlights also plans to render their system so that the lights can flash the colors of the team who have just scored a point or a goal. This way, patrons will truly never miss a moment as they are alerted of all which is going on.
