If you say Ibotta three times fast it sounds as though you are saying “I bought a,” which was the opening line to the radio interview for MarketWatch courtesy of reporter Alisa Parenti. Market Watch featured Ibotta’s CEO Bryan Leach, a client of tech and app public relations firm PMBC Group. The discussion that took place highlighted the number of benefits that Ibotta users have when using the app.
Ibotta is a new app that serves as a bridge between a users smart phone and a purchase in the physical world. Originally created for grocery purchases at stores such as WalMart and Costco, Ibotta has expanded into cash savings at restaurants and retail clothing stores including Aeropostale and Express. To date users have received nearly $10 million in cash rebates already.
When a user downloads the app, he/she is able to explore and find a wide range of money saving everyday items. These items are the essentials that are used on a day to day basis including but not limited to say milk, eggs, soft drinks and various other essential food items. Not to be left out, Ibotta rebates are not limited to food items, but also cater to the fashionista. There are various cash back rebates offered on everyday clothing with the intent of mixing and matching all the shirts, shorts, jeans and other clothing articles you could want.
It’s clear that the 3.5+ million Ibotta users are ready to toss aside coupons in favor of cash rewards. Bryan Leach expressed that the physiological effect that cash savings have on consumers is very different from receiving points or discounts. Consumers have agreed that receiving a twenty-dollar bill is far greater than seeing a printed item on the bottom of a receipt specifying that a consumer has saved twenty dollars during a transaction.
Judging by its ever growing user numbers, this new and innovative technology has more than justified itself in being the latest way for shoppers to really save money on their purchases.
