Los Angeles tech PR firm PMBC Group’s client Hang w/ was featured in a variety of outlets for its collaboration with 50 Cent during this year’s South by Southwest (SXSW). Billboard, MTV, BET, StarPulse, XXL, Billboard Biz and All Hip Hop were just a sampling of the top music and entertainment outlets reporting on how the A-list rapper will utilize live streaming and simultaneous chat app Hang w/ to broadcast his concert at SXSW on March 11th.
Hang w/ has become a powerful marketing tool for countless celebrities allowing them to connect instantly with their fans. Celebrities like Kaskade, Timbaland, Soulja Boy and Lucy Hale have all initiated live broadcasts. According to Hang w/’s CEO and founder Andrew Maltin, the mobile app has already broadcasted 3 million events and has been downloaded more than 1 million times.
50 Cent is an avid user of the app and has used it to broadcast his activities and connect with his fans on real time. He recently live-streamed courtside moments at New York Knicks’ games, and this summer he will be exclusively previewing songs through Hang w/, just like he will be at SXSW.
The rapper is coming out with a new album, “Animal Ambition,” available for pre-order March 18th. His performance on the 11th at SXSW will be the first time fans will have access to hear his new songs. This unparalleled experience live-streamed to fans around the globe will take place on the transition night between the last day of SXSW’s interactive portion and the start of music events. The G-Unit rapper is slated to perform at 1100 Warehouse at 8 pm.
By live broadcasting his show through Hang w/, 50 Cent will not only give the people who couldn’t make it to SXSW an opportunity to watch his show in real-time, but he will also provide his fans with an exclusive “VIP” backstage experience from SXSW.
