As the date draws nearer to the Mega Millions $15 million and Powerball $90 million draw, ticket sales skyrocket as lottery players race to buy last minute tickets to win the jackpot. Hundreds to millions of lottery players will tune in to watch the lottery drawing, but still some winning ticket holders fail to come forward, leaving jackpot winnings unclaimed. Many of those winning ticket holders forget to watch the drawing or check their tickets and are unaware of their winnings. A free app, Lottolotto, aims to make winners of all lottery players by alerting them when they hold a winning ticket, no matter what state in which they are playing the lottery, as reported by Travelers Today.
Lottolotto, a client of Los Angeles tech public relations firm PMBC Group, allows users to check their lottery tickets for every U.S. lottery from multi-state to daily drawing with just a swipe.
The app uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology to read information on lottery tickets and then notifies winners if they win. Players simply take a picture of their lottery tickets with their phone or tablet, and Lottolotto does the rest. Once the picture is taken, the app identifies the lottery game, drawing date and ticket numbers and players are notified with the drawing results.
The app includes other features such as a finder for convenience stores and other retailers that sell and redeem lottery tickets based on the user’s location. An additional unique feature on the app allows users to create a lottery pool where all the members can share their ticket information.
Lottolotto is available for both Apple and Android.
