Tomorrow marks the fourth of February, a day devoted to the recognition of the fact that the fight against cancer is not behind us. The minds behind World Cancer Day (WCD) are determined to remind us all that cancer remains to be something that millions of people deal with globally. In fact, the American Cancer Society determined that there were 1.6 million new cases of cancer in 2012 in the United States alone. Nearly 7.6 million lose their lives to cancer worldwide each year. These staggering statistics can cause a sense of hopelessness for any person fighting cancer. World Cancer Day believes in the concept of strength in numbers because no one can fight this battle alone. We must all fight it together.
Reimagine is the first company of its kind that is providing an educational platform to anyone affected by life stressors including serious illnesses such as cancer. They are encouraging others to make themselves aware of the truths behind different cancers in honor of WCD 2014. Its Pillars4Life Program is delivered in a series of classes led by hand selected, individually trained guides who have been practicing in their fields for a number of years. Classes are designed to bring members together with these teachers in an online interactive community to boost their quality of life in areas such as hope, self-care and inner strength.
Throughout the world, there remains a handful of myths and misconceptions about cancer, which prevent people from potentially receiving the select attention they need. Some of these myths include ideas such as, “we don’t need to talk about cancer,” “there are no signs or symptoms for cancer,” “I don’t have the right to cancer care” and “there is nothing I can do about cancer.” Reimagine is determined to open up the conversation on sensitive subjects such as cancer to put an end to these myths in honor of WCD 2014.
If you are wondering about what steps you can take to start speaking about cancer, check out the WCD website. They have endless information about cancer and what we can do to combat it on a global level. Sign the declaration to bring cancer awareness to the United Nations.
