SideChef has what it takes, and it has the literature to back it up. Esteemed news site The Guardian has named it one of its top 30 apps for Android this week, and for good reason. In the cooking department, no other app comes close to its cohesiveness and user-friendliness—it’s a true assistant in the kitchen. A client of Los Angeles tech and app public relations firm PMBC Group, SideChef is one of the most successful apps of the year.
CEO and founder Kevin Yu’s design for SideChef was centered around utility and ease of use. The app excels in all areas, namely its collection of thousands of recipes, Siri-esque step-by-step voice command technology and social features for user-uploaded recipes. The virtual cookbook present on SideChef contains dishes contributed from users, food bloggers and internationally praised chefs. Recipes may be reviewed, modified to suit a user’s tastes and added to each user’s personal collection if desired. However, step-by-step guidance is where the app shines the most. Complete touchless control can be enabled, with vocalized instructions read aloud to the user. The aspiring cook may then respond with commands to advance or retreat steps, set automatic timers and complete the recipe hands-free.
SideChef’s user interface is brilliantly done as well. Explicitly detailed photos of fare provide a valuable visual guide throughout the cooking process. Search functions also enable users to find recipes based on region, diet or ingredient. All bases are truly covered with the app’s incredibly diverse library. Furthermore, the app meets its accessibility goals, appealing to chefs both new and experienced. As the holidays quickly approach and family feasts must be prepared, it’s more useful app than ever before.
SideChef is now available for all iOS and Android devices.
