Sherman Oaks is establishing itself as a growing town in the San Fernando Valley with the attraction of a growing list of restaurants and bars opening on Ventura Boulevard.
One of the Boulevard’s hottest new venues recently spotlighted in Arcade Heroes was The One Up, a client of PMBC Group Los Angeles-based tech public relations firm, in publication’s recent News Bag article. The review stated, “The ‘Arcade Gastrolounge’ is poised to be the most unique restaurant on Ventura Boulevard.”
The One Up offers patrons 15 classic arcades each offering over 400 free games. All of the classic games are available on a single arcade. Games range from Pac-Man to Donkey Kong to Street Fighter. The theme is primed to attract classic videogame enthusiasts due in part that the games are from the original manufacture developed in the 80s. The restaurant’s menu features New American tapas of traditional recipes with a unique twist, like Cap’n Crunch Fried Chicken and new cocktail creations like Grown-Up Chocolate Milk.
This restaurant was created by two longtime friends, co-owners Murphy Michaels and Ken Bretschneider, who have experience in video games and real estate development. They decided to bring the video game world and the bar scene together and mesh them into The One Up.
The ‘barcade’ has seen tremendous success from the moment doors opened September 26 when the restaurant reached capacity within an hour. The One Up continues to attract foodies, gamers and anyone looking for a unique night-out experience.
