Mac users can now snap away with a new unofficial Snapchat client called Snapped.
Snapped is in beta, but still functions to give you the same experience as Snapchat on your desktop. You can now log in from your mac to send and view photos without the use of your phone.
ThnkDey, the founders of Snapped, is a small development shop run by two college students attending University of California, San Diego. The app runs on OS X 10.9 Mavericks, and will soon be available in the App Store.
Snapped has several features that make it a sneakier than Snapchat. Snapped allows users to upload an image straight from their hard drive as well as taking images the old fashioned way. It has the option to not mark snaps as unread, which means if a friend sends you a snap, you will be able to look at it over and over again, but the friend will think you still haven’t seen it. Finally, users can mark messages you send as read before their friend opens it. So if you send a snap that you regret, you will have a chance to mark it as read on your friends on account.
Snapped will continue to create new features. Snapped is free to download but ThnkDev is accepting donations.
