Social exchange app Heard just debuted its first episode of their new web series Life in Your Social Network. Heard, a client of Los Angeles-based tech and app public relations firm PMBC Group, allows users to share and consume content while keeping their online identity protected. The app changes the way people share and exchange information online by distributing the appropriate content to them based on a unique algorithm of built-in signals.
The series parodies the world of social networking where quite often, the lines between people’s interpersonal relationships can become blurred with that of their digital ones. The show explores this dynamic by personifying situations that occur whilst on a social media platforms such as an overload of content and marketing, invasion of privacy and superficial relationships.
Episode one follows the main character Steve Olson at a cocktail party as his pursuit of a pretty woman in a red dress is constantly halted by real life counterparts of what we encounter on social media. Some of these obstructions include an obnoxious friend he met one time at a concert, a sponsored advertisement for laser tag and ramblings from Gilbert Gottfried as his personified Twitter feed.
Episode one is currently available on the “Life in Your Social Network” YouTube channel here.
