(Los Angeles, CA) – Booming companies are always on the radar of Upstart Business Journal, and this time Lin Miao’s Be Great Partners (BGP) was at the top of their list. Unable to attend BGP’s most recent launch party, editor Laura Baverman spoke with Miao about his plans for the future of his company.
Differentiating itself from Silicon Beach, Miao made it clear that their location was chosen to be close to Hollywood and its celebrities and investors; more modern and capitalizing on Los Angeles. Miao announced his plans to fund 500 startups in Southern California with 80 percent of them coming from Los Angeles itself.
With a $6 million fund, Miao is being highly selective but plans to invest $25K-50K in five to six companies per month until he reaches his goal of 500. Of the 400 companies that have already applied, Lin has chosen a mere 15 thus far.
Miao is quoted saying, “Tons of incubators are handing out money right and left, but startups are lost and don’t know what to do next after they get the money.” Therefore, his model comes as a full-service, one-stop-shop with 25 staff developers, legal assistance, public relations help, HR support and mentors.
Miao has been proving his success with Scambook, the online complaint resolution platform that has already reached 1.5 million users and saved $11 in reported damages. Other companies added to the roster are NatureBox, DealFlicks, MeUndies, and Enplug, all starting to make it on the startup map. To read the entire article click HERE.
