Facial tracking hasn’t been introduced to the world of apps until now with Nito, the 3D facial tracking app that allows a user’s facial movements and voice to be transposed onto 3D character avatars. Named this week by ThisisKC tech site as the New Must-Have App, Nito, a client of Los Angeles tech public relations firm PMBC Group, has brought digital animation to a whole new level.
Nito uses facial tracking to create 3D video animations to can be shared across nine social media and messaging platforms.
The app was created by Hoyt D. Morgan and Obi Onyejekwe who believe that avatars have a more significant role in the future of technology. With avatars already starring in movies, gaming and social media, the creation of avatars it is a continuously growing market. Nito users can now even individually personalize these avatars straight from their phone.
The way that people are using technology and specifically animation technology has changed drastically . Nito, for the first time, has made this animation technology simple enough for the everyday consumer to utilize. Nito allows users to calibrate their own 3D cartoon avatar by taking a photo of themselves with a front-facing camera and tracking different parts of their face such as their eyes, nose and mouth to make their avatar in sync with the user’s facial movements. With great detail, the app even follows the slightest eyebrow raise and other subtle facial expressions.
Currently, the app has pre-set avatars and soon will allow users to personally design custom avatars. Nito is available for the iPad and iPhone, and the creators are planning to expand to Android and Windows devices this year.
